It has been an honor to serve you

March 5th, 2012

On January 31, I sent out a press release announcing I would not be seeking re-election for House District 44.

I have been truly honored to serve in the NC General Assembly as your Representative.

When I was appointed in 2010, it was an opportunity to bring my commitment to issues affecting women and children to the table. During my campaign, I had the opportunity to meet and visit with many of my constituents. It has been an awesome experience being able to hear your issues and concerns so that I have been able to better represent you in the General Assembly.  You shared with me your concerns about education, the economy and health care. I worked hard and used these issues as guidelines for my voting in the House.

I appreciate that many of you have contacted my office with issues and concerns that we have tried to assist you in finding the right solution by helping you wade through the government bureaucracy which can sometimes be daunting.  I promise to continue to help you whenever needed.

One of my fondest memories as your Representative has been visiting many of the public schools in the 44th district as part of Legislators Back to School Week.  I have always welcomed this as a great time to continue the education of our students on the democratic process, state government, and their role in it. The children were always bright, attentive and willing to learn many new things. I also enjoyed meeting the teachers; I am so proud of for the jobs they do educating our children.

To my constituents– it has given me great pride to serve you and I promise to continue to be your voice in the General Assembly over the next year until we elect a new, strong leader for District 44. Thank you for your support and feedback over the past two years.  Please do not hesitate to contact me whether in Raleigh or Fayetteville.  It has truly been a pleasure to serve the people of Cumberland County and Fayetteville.

With warm personal regards,

Diane
